The Faculty of Medicine at Pavol Jozef Šafárik University in Košice has been educating medical students since 1948, with over 17,000 graduates to date. Since 1992, it has offered medical studies in English to students from around 50 countries. Its diplomas are recognized across the EU and many U.S. states. Located near L. Pasteur University Hospital, the Faculty combines modern facilities with hands-on clinical training. The Faculty of Medicine provides university study for international students in two medical branches:
General Medicine – the course lasts 6 years
Dental Medicine – the course lasts 6 years

Requirements

  • Completion of secondary education (high school diploma or equivalent) for Bachelor’s degree admission.

  • For medical/dental programs in English: an entrance exam (multiple-choice test) in Biology and Chemistry.

  • Proof of English (for English-taught programs); Slovak language proficiency may be required for Slovak-taught programs.

  • Submission of academic transcripts, diploma, identification documents.

  • Meeting minimum score/exam threshold for admission in competitive programs (especially medicine/dental).

Programs

Bachelor, Master & PhD Study Cycles

  • Offers over 250 accredited degrees: bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral (PhD) programs.

  • Faculties include: Medicine; Science; Law; Public Administration; Arts; and also an Institute of Physical Education & Sport.

  • Some programs are available in English, and possibly in other foreign languages.

Medicine & Dental Programs

  • Medicine: 6-year program in English (also Slovak) leading to Doctor of General Medicine (MUDr / MD) degree.

  • Dentistry: 6 years, English-taught track available.
